Starter Fertilizer Shows Early Growth Response
The taller corn in this central Indiana field (right) had 140 lb/A of 18-18-0 starter fertilizer applied at planting. The soil test levels across the field are in the high range for P and K. The shorter corn rows had no starter applied. The starter added approximately 8 bushels per acre to the final yield in this strip comparison. In another area of the field, herbicide injury was also found to be reduced where starter fertilizer was applied.
